The 2-position & 3-position 5-way solenoid directional valve is a core component in industrial pneumatic control systems, designed to precisely control the direction, on-off, and flow of compressed air, enabling flexible and efficient operation of pneumatic actuators (such as cylinders). Core Structure & Working Principle

Both 2-position and 3-position 5-way solenoid directional valves adopt a 5-port design (including 1 air supply port P, 2 working ports A/B, and 2 exhaust ports R/S), which realizes the bidirectional control of pneumatic actuators by switching the internal spool position. The core difference between the two lies in the number of spool positions and control functions:
  • 2-Position 5-Way Solenoid Directional Valve: Equipped with two stable spool positions, it mainly realizes the "on/off" or "forward/backward" switching control of the actuator. It is divided into normally closed (NC) and normally open (NO) types, which can be selected according to the actual working requirements of the system. When the solenoid is energized, the spool shifts to change the air path; when de-energized, it resets to the initial position under the action of a spring, ensuring safe and reliable operation of the system.

  • 3-Position 5-Way Solenoid Directional Valve: With three spool positions, it not only realizes the forward and backward control of the actuator but also has a "middle position" function. The middle position can be set to different modes (such as middle closed, middle exhaust, or middle pressure retention) according to needs, which can effectively protect the actuator, save energy, or realize the positioning function of the actuator, improving the flexibility and safety of the system.
